MMC was created to solve an environmental problem and fill a business need. Landfills produce methane gas. In terms of what have come to be known as greenhouse gases, methane gas is 23 times stronger than carbon dioxide – and it is also explosive.

To eliminate the environmental and safety issues created by methane gas, landfills have been required to “flare,” or burn off, methane gas created by decaying refuse.
